Founded in 2006 to coalesce a variety of programs providing science outreach to local schools, the Tulane Center for K-12 STEM Education is housed in the School of Science and Engineering. The Center serves to inspire teachers and students to pursue the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. To date, the Tulane University Center for K-12 STEM Education has helped educate and inspire over 30,000 middle and high school students and teachers. From courses and workshops for students to professional development for teachers, the Center offers diverse activities during the academic year and throughout the summer.

The Center serves 4,000 elementary, middle, and high school students and teachers annually, focusing on at-risk and underserved populations. The Center strives to provide equity of opportunity for K-12 students and increase the number pursuing STEM fields from historically underrepresented groups by connecting Tulane and the New Orleans community, engaging local students through hands-on experiences in STEM, and inspiring confidence in the next generation of leaders and learners.
